My Therapeutic Approach.......

I have had a variety of experience in working with people of all ages within different settings including a counselling agencies, the National Health Service, primary and secondary schools and a bereavement charity.

My training has included many contemporary approaches to counselling and I integrate different strands of psychotherapy to work individually with each client considering their unique needs with respect for age, class, ethnicity, beliefs, gender or sexual orientation.

You will be encouraged to to talk about yourself, your feelings and emotions, childhood recollections and memories, relationships with family and friends and your dreams - in fact anything you want to share about your life and what it is to be you.

The relationship between us as counsellor and client, is central to our work and as we build on trust and understanding we will think about what you communicate on different levels of awareness and what might really be going on for you.

While it may not be obvious how past experiences affect us in the present, by exploring how problems may have developed, making links and uncovering responses the meaning or significance of actions might surface. It might be that by resolving inner conflict you can integrate other aspects of yourself. You could feel a new emotional freedom.

Children tell their story differently - a child may not have the vocabulary to truly express themselves and so our work is based around therapeutic play. Using different media, imagination and metaphor, emotions can be disclosed and explored safely through interpreting the language of the play.

I meet with individuals and couples to work within a short or long-term (open-ended) time frame and I hope to offer a facilitating environment for you to fully explore your difficulties at your own pace.

Now might be the time to consider counselling ...
